About Balkscape

One person. Two homes. One Balkan story.

Where It All Begins

I was born in Serbia, where I still live — but I spent nearly two decades in Montenegro, a place I now feel deeply connected to and truly consider my second home. Balkscape is my way of weaving both worlds into one narrative.

Behind the Scenes

This isn’t a company or a content team. It’s just me. I chose the name, registered the domain, designed every page, and built every detail — from layout and typography to maps, icons, and formatting. I research, write, and edit everything you see here.

A Space with Soul

Balkscape was born out of a simple idea:
To explore and share the real soul of Serbia and Montenegro — not through tourist clichés, but through stories, landscapes, legends, and lived experiences.

I wanted a space that felt personal, honest, and inspiring — where travelers, creatives, and curious minds could discover places worth knowing and feelings worth remembering.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Curated travel guides & itineraries

  • Local stories, myths & cultural insights

  • Nature escapes, city breaks, and hidden gems

  • Honest reflections and a deep respect for place

Whether you’re planning a trip, daydreaming about one, or just fascinated by the region — welcome.
I’m glad you’re here. ♥

Support this project

Balkscape is a self-funded, one-person passion project — no sponsors, no team, no algorithms. Everything so far has come out of my own pocket. Life in the Balkans isn’t luxurious, and pulling anything out of that pocket isn’t always easy — but it is a life full of soul.

If you’ve found something meaningful here, consider supporting the work.

You can do that by:

  • Sharing the site with someone who might enjoy it

  • Or — if you’d like — supporting the project directly via the buttons below.

See you somewhere between the mountains and the sea.

Sincerely yours, B.J.
